The Grammy Award for Song of the Year is the recording academy’s top songwriting honor. The category this year includes a couple of past winners. One is the defending champion, Billie Eilish, who claimed this award in 2020 for “Bad Guy” as part of her historic Grammy sweep. If they win, they’d be the first ever to take this award in consecutive years.

Fellow nominees H.E.R. (“I Can’t Breathe”), and Julia Michaels (“If the World Was Ending” with JP Saxe) have contended for this award in the past, while Dua Lipa (“Don’t Start Now”), Post Malone (“Circles”) and Roddy Ricch (“The Box”) are Song of the Year rookies.
